Overload! My Brain Can’t Take It!

The brain is by far the most complicated organ but it is also the most fascinating and intriguing. Research suggests that it is imperative for the brain to be able to select specific information at a time for processing, a concept commonly known as attention.

What happens when the brain is overwhelmed as a result of psychosocial difficulties?

Similar to that of a computer system, the brain is only capable of doing so much at a time and if it is overwhelmed then it will be unable to function optimally. Taking that into consideration, most people still overwork themselves until they come to a point where they feel as if their heads are going to explode. The trick is to notice the symptoms of burnout and deal with them before the entire system crashes.

People often reach the state of burnout if they overwork themselves with no rest but if they give their bodies and minds the rest that it requires they will not have this feeling of exhaustion, this is why we shut down our computers. It is therefore very important to have a balanced lifestyle and know yourself well.

We all have the ability to reach what is called “executive functioning’’ but instead of working towards excellence and self-growth people tend to become so preoccupied with their daily lives and so accustomed to the routine that they lose interest in acquiring further knowledge. Many people believe that you cannot study when you are older but there is no age limit to gaining knowledge and that statement is also highly inaccurate because we are constantly learning and maturing every day.

When people speak about the brain they often associate this with a level of intellect and an IQ score, however, not everyone is gifted in terms of this and fairly ordinary people are just as capable of reaching excellence if they put in that extra effort and remain consistent.

Within the field of IT, there are many careers that deal with logical concepts that can be understood with ease but this does not happen overnight. People often only find things difficult because they do not take the time to comprehend it but if you invest your energy and brain power to a specific task at hand, there will be no limits to what you are capable of acquiring. Never doubt your ability to achieve anything you want to and always strive to be the best version of yourself but remember to take a time-out now and again so you refrain from reaching the point of exhaustion.
