Learning many Languages At Once
Should you
learn more than one language at a time? How much can you get out of this
strategy and would this benefit you? All this may come to mind when learning
programming and it can be a huge factor in your learning experience.
I know some
are just enthusiastic and want to get the most out of this or feel that you
backwards in your knowledge base and want to keep up with the rest that seem to
be way more ahead of you so you try to cram as much as you can on different
languages.
Just on the
get go, I can tell you that this is a really really bad idea. This technique or
style will most probably get you nowhere other than confused, overwhelmed and
exhausted.
Maybe there
are some special individuals who have the capacity to be able to undertake this
task with ease and that is absolutely amazing and great for them but for most
of us, this could crush us completely and you’d end up wanting to give up due
to the enormous amount of information you would have to take in.
My advice to
you is learn a language one step at a time. Don’t rush or push yourself beyond
your limit. There is nothing wrong with this. Someone may know more languages
than you but if you give a language all your attention and become skilled in it
then you shall be able to produce far more better results in that language than
someone who is cramming more languages at once.
There is
always a time for everything and this is key to progressing developing your
mastery of programming languages. You might be wondering what I mean by that.
Well you
shouldn’t spend too much learning a certain aspect of a language, once you
understand something, move on and don’t rush too fast through it as lack of
understanding will leave you baffled at the end of the day.
Another key
tip that I’ve picked up is that if you want to learn something in a new
language, have a goal.
A goal of
what you would like to achieve and learn that portion to produce an end result.
Obviously you would have to learn the basics but set a goal to what you want to
do like for example building an app.
Sometimes in
life, it is not about the quantity of information but the quality so ensure
that your quality of your knowledge is worked on by trying to progress on a
certain skill you would like to secure for yourself.
I hope that
this can help someone and guide others to a good approach of going about their
coding experience. Good luck to one and all.
