Single VS Multiple Languages

Single VS Multiple Languages

I came across many queries when it comes to the question from new developers on whether it is better to learn multiple languages or to stick to one language.

There is no wrong or right answer here but both ways has pros and cons.

SINGLE LANGUAGE

This should generally be your first step by mastering a single language as this would give you a specialty as well as make it much easier to grasp concepts of other languages more effectively.

A single language when given the proper attention and focus can be used to accomplish so much and this would give you an edge on other developers in this language as you would become the guy to refer to in queries to this language making you somewhat of an expert in the acquired language.

It is good to have that language to specialize in as you can help develop others in the skills you have gained through your experience in the language.

Through this specialization, it would be easier to get jobs and make money for opportunities requiring this skill.

MULTIPLE LANGUAGES

This should be implemented through time of understanding and gaining experience in a single language.

It would very daunting to try to undertake numerous amounts of programming languages all at the same time which will reduce the time spent to effectively dissect a language for a better comprehension.

Yes, it is absolutely good to be able to have more than one language under your belt but be cautious not to rush and overwhelm yourself. The key is to be patient and to take it a step at a time.

The main factor with both is that the most important attribute is quality and not quantity and if you proceed for quantity then make sure you have your quality in order.
